Terms of Service
The short version
- Everything you do in game is public.
- Your characters, items, trades and zeny show up in the Ledger.
- Your email, IP address, payment details and chat are never published.
- No bots, no exploits, no selling characters or zeny for real money.
- Staff follow the same rules, and every GM command they run is public too.
1. Accepting these terms
By creating a master account or logging in with the game client, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not create an account. You must be at least [MIN AGE 13] years old to play, and if you are under the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian must agree on your behalf.
Midgard Universe is a fan project. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Gravity Co., Ltd., and it is provided as is, without guarantees of uptime or that the server will run forever.
2. Your accounts
You sign in to this website with one master account. A master account can own up to [5] game accounts, which are the logins the client uses. Each game account has its own password and characters.
- You are responsible for everything done with your accounts. Keep your master password and each game-account password unique.
- We strongly recommend two-factor authentication on your master account. Staff will never ask for a password or a 2FA code.
- One person, one master account. Multiple game accounts are fine; multiple master accounts are not.
3. Fair play
The point of a low-rate server is that everything is earned. The following will get an account suspended or banned:
- Bots, macros, or any software that plays for you, including auto-pots and auto-loot tools outside the client's built-in options.
- Exploiting bugs on purpose, including duplication, instead of reporting them.
- Buying or selling characters, items or zeny for real money or anything outside the game.
- Harassment, hate speech, impersonating staff, or threatening other players.
4. Everything you do in game is public
Radical transparency is the reason this server exists. Anyone, logged in or not, can look up what any character owns, earned, traded and spent, and what every staff member did. You cannot opt out of this, because the whole system only works if nothing is hidden.
Public, by design
| What | Shown in the Ledger |
|---|---|
| Characters | Name, class, level, stats, skills, equipment, current map and online status. |
| Items | Every item's unique ID, refines, cards, inventory, cart and storage, and everyone who has held it. |
| Trades | Both sides of every trade, every vending sale and its price, every mail attachment. |
| Zeny | Zeny on hand, in the bank and in guild storage, plus every transfer in or out. |
| GM actions | Every command staff run, who ran it, on which target, and when. Punishments by account ID, category and length. |
Never public
| What | Who sees it |
|---|---|
| Email address | Only you see it, masked, on your security page. Staff see it in the console. |
| IP address and hardware ID | Used for security and ban enforcement, never shown in the Ledger. |
| Payment data | Handled by the payment provider. We keep only an amount and a reference. |
| Chat and whispers | Public, party, guild and whisper chat are not published. Staff review reported chat only. |
| Which game accounts are yours | The Ledger never links game accounts to your master account handle, birthdate or real name. |
When a game account changes owner, the Ledger shows only acc 2000962 changed master account. Ban entries show the account ID, category and duration; evidence and free-text reasons stay with staff.
Read the privacy policy for the details.
5. Credits and donations
Donations keep the server running. They buy credits, and credits buy cosmetic items and convenience services only. Nothing in the shop gives stats or gear that can't be earned in game. Every shop purchase appears in the Ledger as an item creation, like any other.
Credits have no cash value and cannot be transferred or exchanged for money. Refunds follow the policy at [REFUND POLICY].
6. Game-account transfers
You may move a game account to another person's master account using the transfer flow. The receiving owner must accept within [72 hours], and the account's characters, storage and items move with it. Transfers for payment of any kind are real-money trading under §3.
7. Enforcement and appeals
Staff can warn, mute, jail, suspend or ban accounts that break these terms. Every punishment is logged publicly by account ID, category and length. You can appeal any punishment once through a support ticket; a different staff member reviews it.
8. Changes to these terms
These terms are versioned. When they change, we post the change in News at least [14 days] before it takes effect, and the full text of every past version stays available below with a diff.
9. Contact
Questions about these terms go to a support ticket under "Policy". For anything about your personal data, use the "Privacy request" category, or write to [PRIVACY EMAIL].
Questions about these terms
Can I hide my characters from the Ledger?
No. Public data is the whole point of the server, so there is no private mode for characters, items or zeny. What you can control is what never enters the Ledger in the first place: your email, IP, payment details and chat are not published for anyone.
Who can see my email address?
You, masked, on your own security page, and staff in the staff console when they handle a ticket or an account issue. Every time a staff member opens your account, that access is itself written to the public accountability log, without the email.
Do GMs play by different rules?
No. Staff accounts are bound by these terms, staff may not play on game accounts that hold GM permissions, and every command a GM runs, including the target and time, is published on the Ledger.
What happens to my data if I delete my master account?
Your email, password hashes, 2FA and support history are deleted within [30 days]. In-game history stays in the Ledger, because removing it would break other players' trade and item records, but it stays tied only to the game account ID.
Is Midgard Universe affiliated with Gravity?
No. Ragnarok Online is a trademark of Gravity Co., Ltd. Midgard Universe is an independent fan project with its own client, and it is not endorsed by or connected to Gravity.
